Be Kind.

Kindness is contagious. Kindness has the ability to spark an inner warmth of happiness. Therefore, focusing on being kind can impact you and everyone you come in contact with.

I am nearly certain that challenging yourself to spreading kindness will create a sense of joy, and personal peace knowing that you passed on a torch of love and kindness rather than gossip and demeaning comments.

My 1st grader brought home a kindness challenge from school today and I just had to jump on this! We have 2 main rules for our children (OK we have a lot of rules for our children but these are 2 that I preach often). 1.) Be kind 2.) Work hard. If there are two key values that I hope to pass on to our kids it would be these. This is something as an adult I find important as well. There is something to meeting something with a smile and showing them you care.

Challenge: Be Kind

This week we will focus on kindness. We will do this as a family but incorporate this into our work days as well. These challenges can be done anyway you like: alone, with a friend, with a group. As long as you are working on bettering yourself, we are proud!

Choose 7 of the below items to complete throughout the week.

  • Give a compliment
  • Thank someone who has helped you
  • Be kind to yourself and eat a healthy snack or exercise
  • Greet someone with a smile
  • Send a care package
  • Ask someone if you can help them
  • Tip extra
  • Pay for someones meal
  • Make a meal for someone
  • Call a friend
  • Send someone a letter
  • Volunteer in your community
  • Hold the door for a stranger
  • Shovel someones sidewalk (or cut their grass)
  • Recognize someones strengths and commend them for it
  • Pick up litter
  • Give someone a hug
  • Feel free to think of others ways to spread kindness

This challenge has made my heart warm and fuzzy.

There is something about going out of your way and doing good. This is something that completes me on a personal level. Spreading kindness re-sparks the feeling like there is good in the world and that we can conquer hate just by spreading kindness.

This week we were able to incorporate kindness through: sending letters (who doesn’t love mail that’s not bill related!), giving compliments, thanking others, lots of hugs, cleaning a family members home, and volunteering at a local school event.

We felt great after all of these! Feeling like you are making an impact is fulfilling. These moments even made our daily gratitude reflections.

Personally, I am hoping that I can continue to include daily kindness. It brightens my soul while also brightening others.

I am hopeful that by spreading kindness you will see increased joy in your life.

What are ways that you help spread kindness?
